"Southin Wimen" ....

.... Also known as Southern Women

I received an email from a dear friend of mine this afternoon. She is the founder of a large nonprofit here in Charleston, Chicks with Checks. I love these ladies!! I started thinking about how different the women behave here in comparison to where I grew up in Ohio. After attending my first fundraising event with the Chicks, I came to a stark realization; under my Sunday hat and white gloves.

Some major differences include but are not limited to:

*Southern women appreciate their natural assets: Clean skin. A winning smile. That unforgettable Southern drawl
*Ohio women appreciate pasty chicken bone skin and dry patches in the winter

*Southern women know their vacation spots: The beach> The rivuh> The crick> >
*Ohio women know their vacation spot: somewhere in the South>

*Southern girls know the 3 deadly sins:> Having bad hair and nails> Having bad manners> Cooking bad food
*Ohio women wear pj pants to get a haircut, dinner and a manicure at WalMart

Don't get me wrong, I love where I came from but love where I've ended up a bit more.

Kaiti's last night in Charleston Party

Kaiti is headed back to Arizona tomorrow afternoon. We have had such a blast with her this summer and will miss her so much!!

2 years ago......

........Joey and I were in St Croix. I am craving some alone time with him again. (can't wait for Rome)
I miss you Joey.....come home!!!!

"Where's Daddy?"

Joey was scheduled to be home by this afternoon but was delayed due to yet another broken C17. He has been gone for 15 days. It's been harder for me than Sophie. Although she has made a habit of circling the house searching for Daddy. We have been attending baby play classes looking for friends for mommy and playmates for Sophie.....so far.....the search continues.
I am finishing up my Paralegal certification this week. Finally. I am so excited to begin my journey into Law School. I seriously thought the day would never come. Joey has begun the third class in his Master's program in psychology.
It really feels so amazing to know that we are on the correct path to fulfill both of our dreams.

We are planning a trip to Rome next month. I have yet to determine which of us is more excited. Joey travels constantly with the military and poor lil me stays put. ......I am so much more excited. I've been starving for culture.

Sophie is now 13 months old.....crazy! Remember when you were little and a week seemed like eternity? Now, it seems as though months go by just as quickly as weeks. I want to cherish as much as I can with her while I can. Joey has considered taking a contractor loadmaster position in Iraq. He would be gone for 2 months and then home for a month .....repeat for one year. Since I miss him terribly during these 2 week missions, I think 2 months might prove to be a bit challenging. But, the financial aspect of it is amazing and would really secure alot of things for us. Ugh, the hardships of being a grown up.
